Cadillac changes lanes, splits with GM moves to NY

cadillacconnectivityGM has “realigned” Cadillac making it a separate business unit.  The new Cadillac will have new global headquarters in New York in 2105.

This is one of the many changes from new president Johan de Nysschen who came to Cadillac, last month from the Infiniti division of Nissan. Before that, he helped Volkswagen make Audi a top luxury brand.

CTIA AT&T connected car panel says people would switch carriers for connected cars

Atmaychan CTIA Mobility Week a week after AT&T announced it latest connected car platform, AT&T ‘s Ralp de la Vega along with a panel of AT&T connected car fans, discussed how important connected cars are to the Wireless industry.

de la Vega noted that Strategy Analytics estimates that nearly 10 million 4-wheeled smartphones in the form of connected cars will be on the road in a few years. He also reported that AT&T studies show people prefer a shared family data plan that lets them to share data for many devices, and customers want to be able to add their cars to their rate plans.

GM demos self-driving micro car in Detroit: Chevy EN-V 2.0

The Chevrolet Electric Networked-Vehicle (EN-V) 2.0 has the latest intelligent and connected automotive technologies including Lidar and V2X to for automated, low-speed electric driving LSV.

Cadillac takes wireless charging cue with Powermat in emblematic move

ccadillacwirelessGM announced that Cadillac will add wireless charging of smartphones in the 2015 model ATS sport sedan and coupe launching this fall. The wireless charging will be compatible with Powermat and other in-phone wireless charging technologies, therefore  once inside the car, you place the smartphone on the mat and you don’t have to connect a cord to charge it.

Because people keep their smartphones with them all day and Bluetooth uses a lot of battery juice, wireless charging in cars is an ideal solution.
