Lucid Group, the Silicon Valley-based electric vehicle manufacturer known for its high-end sedans, has unveiled the 2026 Lucid Gravity, its first SUV and a significant expansion of the company’s ambitions in the competitive EV market. The U.S. manufactured vehicle is not expected to have any tariffs.
Positioned as a luxury, full-size SUV with seating for up to seven adults, the Gravity enters a crowded but fast-growing segment, where electric offerings from legacy automakers and startups alike are vying for consumer attention. What Lucid promises, however, is a vehicle that delivers performance, utility, and efficiency—without, as the company puts it, “compromise.”
Blending Practicality With Performance
At first glance, the Gravity checks all the expected boxes: three rows of seats, a spacious cabin with over 120 cubic feet of cargo space in the five-seat configuration, and adjustable air suspension for a smooth ride on a variety of road surfaces. The second- and third-row seats fold flat, and Lucid emphasizes comfort and flexibility in the rear seating areas, with features like sliding second-row seats and optional integrated tables for rear passengers.
But where Lucid is attempting to differentiate itself is under the hood—and in the battery. The Gravity Grand Touring model comes equipped with two electric motors producing a combined 828 horsepower, accelerating from zero to 60 miles per hour in a claimed 3.4 seconds. Lucid also touts a newly developed rear-axle steering system, designed to enhance low-speed maneuverability and high-speed handling.
Range and Charging Among Best in Class
With an EPA-estimated range of up to 450 miles, the Gravity offers one of the longest ranges of any electric SUV currently announced. The vehicle also supports high-speed charging, capable of adding 200 miles of range in under 11 minutes on compatible 1000V infrastructure, according to Lucid.
The company’s engineers have developed a proprietary voltage-boosting system that enables the Gravity’s 926V battery pack to charge efficiently on both 500V and 1000V networks. Unlike the pack-splitting methods used by other manufacturers, Lucid’s system uses the rear motor’s drive unit to boost voltage, helping reduce cable heating and maximize charging speed.
“To deliver this level of charging performance, we had to rethink how energy flows into the vehicle,” said Emad Dlala, Lucid’s Senior Vice President of Powertrain. “It’s about making the experience as effortless as possible for the driver.”
A Technological and Design Showcase
The Gravity also debuts Lucid’s latest in-vehicle interface, dubbed the Clearview Cockpit. The driver’s seat is dominated by a 34-inch 6K OLED display that appears to float above the steering wheel. A secondary full HD touchscreen panel below offers quick access to climate and drive settings, while an optional augmented reality head-up display projects essential information directly onto the windshield.
At the heart of the system is Lucid UX 3.0, the automaker’s updated software platform, which will power everything from navigation to entertainment and over-the-air updates. Lucid says this new interface is designed to evolve over time, with future software updates delivering new features post-purchase.
Availability and Pricing
The Gravity Grand Touring model will start at $94,900, with deliveries expected to begin in 2026. A lower-priced Touring model, starting at $79,900, is planned to follow later in 2025.
For Lucid, the launch of Gravity represents a critical moment. As electric vehicle adoption grows and industry giants like Ford, General Motors, and Tesla race to build out their SUV portfolios, Lucid is betting that its emphasis on range, speed, and luxury refinement will carve out a niche among affluent buyers seeking something that feels both futuristic and familiar.
