The ID. EVERY1 is part of Volkswagen’s new Electric Urban Car Family, a collection of front-wheel-drive electric vehicles developed across multiple brands under the Volkswagen Group’s Brand Group Core. This new family of vehicles is built on Volkswagen’s modular electric drive platform (MEB) adapted for front-wheel drive. The production of the ID. 2all—positioned in the €25,000 price range—is slated for 2026, preceding the ID. EVERY1 by a year.
“The ID. EVERY1 is the last piece of the puzzle on our journey to having the widest model selection in the volume segment,” said Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars. “We will then offer every customer the right car with the right drive system—including affordable entry-level electric mobility. Our goal: to expand our position as the world’s leading volume manufacturer in terms of technology by 2030. And as a brand for everyone—just as you would expect from Volkswagen.”
This initiative is central to Volkswagen’s broader strategy of providing a diverse range of mobility options, from efficient combustion engines to advanced hybrids and all-electric models. With the European launch of the Electric Urban Car Family in 2026, Volkswagen aims to maintain its competitive edge in the high-volume vehicle segment.
A customer-first approach is at the heart of the new models, according to Kai Grünitz, a member of the Volkswagen Brand Board of Management responsible for Technical Development. “In future models, we talk about Customer Defined Vehicles,” Grünitz said. “The ID. EVERY1 shows that we are putting our customers, their wishes, interests, and preferences at the center of vehicle development more consistently than ever.”
The ID. EVERY1 will also debut a new, powerful software architecture, allowing for continuous updates and new features throughout the vehicle’s lifecycle. This means customers can customize and enhance their vehicle even after purchase.
Design-wise, the ID. EVERY1 draws inspiration from Volkswagen’s design heritage while embracing modern electric aesthetics. “Our ambition was to create something bold yet accessible,” said Andreas Mindt, Volkswagen’s Head of Design. “The ID. EVERY1 has a self-assured appearance but remains likeable—thanks to details such as the dynamic front lights and the ‘smiling’ rear. These design elements give it character and an identity that people can relate to.”
Measuring 3,880 mm in length, the ID. EVERY1 slots between Volkswagen’s discontinued up! (3,600 mm) and the current Polo (4,074 mm). Despite its compact dimensions, the vehicle offers seating for four and a luggage compartment with a volume of 305 liters. Powered by a newly developed electric motor generating 70 kW (95 PS), the concept car reaches a top speed of 130 km/h and delivers a minimum range of 250 kilometers.
The production version of the ID. EVERY1 represents a crucial milestone in Volkswagen’s long-term electric vehicle strategy. As part of the company’s “Future Volkswagen” agreement, established in December 2024, the automaker has laid out a three-phase plan to enhance its market position and technological leadership. The plan includes strengthening competitiveness, expanding the model range, and ultimately achieving dominance as a leading volume manufacturer by 2030.
Volkswagen plans to release nine new models by 2027, including the ID. 2all and the ID. EVERY1. With these affordable electric options, the automaker aims to shape the future of sustainable mobility while remaining true to its legacy of providing reliable and accessible vehicles for everyone.
There has been no announcements if the the car will be for everyone in the U.S., yet.
