Geotab Expands OEM Integration with Daimler

Geotab Inc., a global leader in connected transportation solutions, has expanded its OEM integration with Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) Freightliner trucks. This enhancement now includes support for trucks equipped with Cummins Powertrains, allowing fleets to access critical vehicle data and insights through the MyGeotab fleet management platform.

This advancement builds on Geotab’s initial Freightliner integration, empowering operators to make data-driven decisions that optimize costs, improve sustainability, and enhance safety. “By utilizing Geotab telematics to support Freightliner trucks with Cummins Powertrains, we’re empowering businesses to harness the full potential of their vehicle data,” said Anil Khanna, Director of Connectivity Services at DTNA. Factory-installed hardware on new models enables over-the-air telematics activation, simplifying data access without additional hardware.

Trimble and STMicroelectronics Collaborate

Trimble (Nasdaq: TRMB) has announced a collaboration with STMicroelectronics to enhance positioning solutions for automotive and IoT applications. The partnership integrates Trimble’s ProPoint® Go positioning engine with STMicroelectronics’ Teseo VI GNSS chipsets, delivering high-accuracy positioning with improved signal availability and cost efficiency. This solution supports applications like ADAS, C-V2X, field robotics, and UAVs by leveraging quad-band GNSS and Trimble correction services. With ASIL-C certified correction data, the system enhances automated driving capabilities and IoT accuracy while ensuring safety and reliability in challenging environments.

Soracom Partnered with AECC  at MWC 2025

Soracom, Inc., a global IoT platform provider, participated in the AECC (Automotive Edge Computing Consortium) showcase at Mobile World Congress 2025 (MWC 2025) in Barcelona. The event featured a proof-of-concept (PoC) demonstration on next-generation network architecture for connected vehicles, jointly developed by Soracom and Toyota Motor Corporation. AECC highlighted the need for scalable, interoperable, and programmable 5G services to support intelligent driving, high-definition mapping, and teleoperation.

The showcased solution ensured secure and seamless vehicle connectivity through network capabilities exposed via telecommunications APIs and the use of eUICC for authentication. This PoC demonstrated how vehicles could maintain uninterrupted connectivity throughout their lifecycle, even as communication technologies evolved. Soracom continued its collaboration with AECC members, including Toyota, to advance research and development in secure cloud connectivity for future automotive applications.

Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America Partners with Seeing Machines to Promote Guardian Generation 3 Driver Monitoring System

Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America, Inc. (MEAA) signed a Referral Agreement with Seeing Machines Limited to promote the Guardian Generation 3 driver monitoring system across the Americas. This AI-powered solution enhances road safety by detecting driver distraction and fatigue in commercial vehicles.

Leveraging MEAA’s extensive distribution network, the collaboration follows Mitsubishi Electric Mobility Corporation’s strategic investment in Seeing Machines in December 2024. Guardian Generation 3 provides real-time monitoring, alerting drivers through visual, audible, and haptic feedback while transmitting critical safety events to a live monitoring center. Unlike traditional in-cab cameras, the system records only when a safety event occurs, addressing privacy concerns while providing essential risk mitigation data.

With increasing global regulations on driver monitoring, Guardian Generation 3 offers a proactive safety solution for fleet operators. The technology will be showcased at MEAA’s booth (#938) during the Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) Annual Meeting, March 10-13 in Nashville, Tenn.

HARMAN, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, presented its latest suite of intelligent, connected automotive technologies at MWC Barcelona 2025, demonstrating how AI-driven innovations are redefining in-cabin experiences. The company showcased the evolution of its ‘Ready’ portfolio, emphasizing seamless connectivity, personalized interactions, and next-generation safety features.

Among the highlights, Ready Aware utilized vehicle-to-cloud technology for advanced situational awareness, while Ready Connect introduced satellite-powered telematics for uninterrupted connectivity. Chicago Renews Curb’s Contract for Wheelchair Accessible Taxi Dispatch

The City of Chicago has renewed its contract with Curb to operate its exclusive Centralized Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) Taxicab Dispatch Service. The new contract, beginning March 1, 2025, has a two-year term with three optional renewals.

Curb has managed the program since 2020, consolidating WAV taxi access through its app and call-in service. The initiative has achieved a 95% trip completion rate, making it one of the most effective WAV programs in the country. Curb has introduced service improvements such as an automated ride request system and a QR code-based airport voucher system to streamline operations.

With over 400 participating WAV drivers and nearly 3,000 other drivers in Chicago, the program enhances accessibility and driver income opportunities. Chicago remains one of the largest cities with a single-vendor WAV program, reinforcing its commitment to accessible transportation. Curb will continue optimizing dispatch technology and ensuring reliable service for WAV users, who can book rides via the Curb app or by calling 1-888-WAV-CABS.

Utilimaster Unveils New Work Truck Solutions

Utilimaster, a brand of The Shyft Group, introduced two new purpose-built work truck solutions at NTEA Work Truck Week 2025—the return of the Utilimaster Trademaster Service Body and the debut of the Marketplace Dry Freight Truck. Sibros has announced a strategic partnership with ZO Motors North America to develop a unified data and fleet analytics cloud platform for ZM Trucks’ commercial electric vehicles. This collaboration will enhance fleet performance monitoring, predictive maintenance, and service management using AI-driven insights and dynamic data logging.

Equipped with Sibros’ Deep Connected Platform, ZM Trucks’ medium and heavy-duty electric vehicles will gain real-time data collection, over-the-air (OTA) software updates, remote diagnostics, and predictive maintenance capabilities. This integration will optimize fleet efficiency, reduce operational costs, and enhance customer service.

The partnership underscores ZM Trucks’ commitment to innovation as it establishes its first North American manufacturing plant. Sibros’ technology will empower ZM Trucks to transform its vehicles into intelligent, data-driven assets. The ZM8, ZM Trucks’ first North American vehicle, will debut at Work Truck Week 2025 in Indianapolis.

MBZ TruckLive Connected Traffic Warnings

Mercedes-Benz has introduced the Connected Traffic Warnings feature to improve road safety by providing real-time hazard alerts to truck drivers. Integrated into the TruckLive service, this system detects hazards such as accidents, fog, heavy rain, and wrong-way drivers and shares warnings via the cloud with nearby vehicles. The alerts appear on the digital map, as pop-ups, and as acoustic signals.

This system operates through a telematics platform, requiring an Actros truck with a Multimedia Cockpit Interactive 2 and an active TruckLive contract. It integrates data from other vehicles, infrastructure operators, and road construction companies, ensuring broad coverage. The goal is to enhance driver awareness, prevent sudden braking, and reduce accident risks. The feature is included in the navigation package for three years, with an option for extension.
