Free Car Repair for Fire Survivors Fixit Day at Petersen Museum, LA, CA

Fix-It Day 2025

For many Angelenos, a car is more than just a vehicle—it is a lifeline. It gets them to work, their children to school, and their families to medical appointments. But for those facing financial hardship, a major repair can mean an impossible choice between fixing their car and paying for essentials like rent or groceries.

On Sunday, March 2, CarParts.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: PRTS) is launching Fix-It Day 2025, a community-driven initiative providing free automotive repairs to struggling families in Los Angeles. In partnership with Safe Parking LA, the Petersen Automotive Museum, and a coalition of businesses and volunteers, the event will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering vital car repairs to 38 pre-selected families—many of whom have been affected by recent wildfires and economic hardship.

“Ensuring driver safety is at the heart of everything we do,” said Christina Thelin, Chief Marketing Officer of CarParts.com. “Fix-It Day is about more than just fixing cars; it’s about showing up for our neighbors and giving them the support they need to keep going. We want to make a real difference, one journey at a time.”

Skilled mechanics will provide essential services—brake replacements, battery changes, oil changes, and more—free of charge. The initiative, organizers say, is a response to the growing number of families who depend on their cars for daily survival but cannot afford costly repairs.

“For many of our participants, a working car is the difference between keeping a job or losing it, taking their children to school or missing another day, making it to a medical appointment or letting their health suffer,” said Matthew Tecle, Executive Director at Safe Parking LA. “Thanks to CarParts.com and its incredible partners, we are lifting a heavy burden off the shoulders of those who are already carrying so much.”

The Petersen Automotive Museum, a cultural institution dedicated to the impact of automobiles, will serve as the event venue, offering staffing assistance and logistical support.

“In a city where having a car is almost essential to daily life, we recognize the importance of dependable transportation,” said Terry L. Karges, Executive Director of the Petersen Automotive Museum. “We’re honored to help ensure that those facing financial hardship can continue to rely on their vehicles for work, school, and everything in between.”

A coalition of partners is rallying behind the initiative. Wrench will dispatch certified mechanics for on-site repairs, JC Whitney is donating tools, LIQUI MOLY is supplying motor oils and additives, and Bosch is contributing critical components. To ensure no one goes hungry, The Lime Truck will provide fresh, complimentary meals to families, volunteers, and mechanics. Pacific Nexus, a global strategy firm, is leading the event’s execution.

Beyond the immediate repairs, CarParts.com is offering all participants a complimentary CarParts+ Membership, granting access to exclusive discounts, priority service, and additional auto care resources.

Fix-It Day is more than an event—it is a movement. By uniting industry leaders, nonprofits, and volunteers, the initiative aims to keep Los Angeles residents on the road when they need it most.
