BTP Thermal Plate for BEVS

Marelli has been awarded a significant contract from a major global carmaker to supply the Battery Thermal Plate (BTP) for future Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs). The solution, a key technology for thermal energy management in electric vehicles, has been developed and will be produced in-house by Marelli.

The supply will begin in 2024, reaching approximately 5 million units over the contract period. The agreement involves various vehicle platforms and segments for the Chinese, North American and European markets.

Volvo EX90 Production Started in South Carolina

Volvo’s factory outside Charleston, South Carolina has now started building the flagship SUV – and the first customer deliveries are scheduled for the second half of this year.

The EX90 represents a paradigm shift for the company as it is the first Volvo car powered by core computing technology – a technology that enables a new era of safety for our cars.

The first customer-bound EX90 that rolled off the Charleston line was a striking model painted in Denim Blue, destined for a customer in the United States later this year.

Volvo Cars’ first manufacturing plant in the United States opened in the summer of 2018 just outside Charleston, one of the oldest and most storied cities in the country. Today, the Charleston plant produces the EX90 and the S60 sedan, and it has the capacity to build up to 150,000 cars per year.

The EX90 comes with a powerful core system, is always connected and can be improved over time through software updates. These updates are delivered by software engineers, enabled by AI and informed by real-time data collection.

Lithium Battery Fire Extinguisher Sales Started

 Full Circle Lithium Corp. Electric JetFueler from Rampmaster Delivered

Factorial Delivers Sold-State B-Samples

SAE International, the world’s leading authority in mobility standards development, has selected Pearson  (FTSE:PSON.L) and its Pearson VUE business, the global leader in computer-based testing for high-stakes certification and licensure exams, to deliver its new Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) Technician Certification beginning in May 2024. This partnership aims to address the shortage of qualified EV technicians to support the growing EV infrastructure in the US and around the world.

SAE International developed the SAE EVSE Technician Certification to establish and verify skills and knowledge necessary for technicians to maintain, repair, and operate Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations. Tailored for individuals transitioning into green technology or seeking to validate their existing expertise, the SAE EVSE Technician Certification will be granted to technicians who have fulfilled specific eligibility requirements and successfully passed the rigorous exam developed by the SAE ITC Probitas Authentication based on the SAE EVSE Technician Body of Knowledge.

Polaris Off-Road Charging in Michigan

Polaris Inc. (NYSE: PII) and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) celebrated the launch and grand opening of an electric off-road vehicle charging network in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Just under a year after Polaris received a Mobility Public-Private Partnership & Programming (MP4) grant through Michigan Office of Future Mobility & Electrification’s (OFME) program to develop and maintain an off-road trail charging network in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, the off-road charging network is officially open. This first-of-its-kind off-road electric charging network supports around 100 miles of scenic off-road trails in the Upper Peninsula.

Big Order of Pioneer Mobile EV Charging by Metro

Pioneer Power Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq: PPSI) (“Pioneer”, “Pioneer Power” or the “Company”), a leader in the design, manufacture, service and integration of electrical power systems, distributed energy resources, power generation equipment and mobile electric vehicle (“EV”) charging solutions, today announced that it has received an order valued over $5 million for its e-Boost mobile electric vehicle charging solutions from a major U.S. metro transit authority.

With this order and its current backlog, the Pioneer eMobility business unit is expected to surpass the 2024 guidance of $10 million in revenue of mobile off-grid EV charging solutions in 2024. The Company expects to deliver and commission this specific order in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Serving one of the largest metro cities in the U.S., the Transit Authority is led by visionary city leadership that is on a mission to decarbonize and sustainably electrify its fleet of transit buses by 2028. Pioneer eMobility was selected and awarded the contract based on several critical criteria including sustainability, product mobility, experience, power delivery capacity, product lead time, design optimization and consultative solution. The contract includes the purchase, installation, and maintenance of four e-Boost Mobile units in two transit depot locations to enable EV charging of the Transit Authority’s first 24 EV buses.

These e-Boost Mobile units, each with 240kW of onboard power, will be delivered with six offboard mobile EV chargers on connected skids. The units are designed with the flexibility to relocate transit depot operations to a secondary, safety site during natural disaster events including wildfires or flooding. Pioneer’s robust off-grid, mobile design offers the Transit Authority 8.4MWh of onboard energy at each site for EV charging during normal operations and the assurance of continuous operation during unexpected weather-related events or grid congestion at a remote location.

This order also marks one of the first e-Boost units to be purchased through Sourcewell, a national, nonprofit service cooperative that serves as a bridge between government, education, and nonprofit agencies and suppliers that offer qualified products and solutions. The e-Boost product line is now available to all municipal and government agencies on Sourcewell through its alliance partner INF Associates Energy Solutions, based in New York and operating throughout the U.S.

OCPP 2.0.1, the latest version of Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) released by OCA in 2020, is the globally recognized standard for effective communication between charging stations and charging station management software. To date, only 14 companies worldwide have achieved this esteemed certification.
