Lucid Motors Delivers Treats & Dreams to Owners with Great EV Tricks

The Lucid Motors dream cars were delivered in an event on October 30. The car buyers were welcomed and had their names displayed behind their vehicles. The first members of the Lucid Owners Clubs were treated to a meal and gathering.

Peter Rawlinson said, “This is big day.”  New Lucid Dream owners were able to take selfies with the boss himself.

The first group of Dream Edition reservation holders were invited to take delivery of their vehicles on Saturday, October 30. Highlights were shared on Lucid’s social media channels throughout the weekend. The Dream Delivery event follows the company’s start of production last month at Lucid’s factory in Casa Grande, Arizona, the first greenfield, dedicated electric vehicle manufacturing facility in North America.

Owners are taking part in inaugural Lucid Rally, hosted by members of the company’s leadership team on a route that showcases the vehicle’s standout ride, handling, and performance capabilities, before departing in their personally-configured Lucid Air Dream Edition, reflecting their preference of Range or Performance models.

“Creating the Lucid Air has truly been a labor of love, with customer deliveries representing the culmination of years of endeavor from the entire Lucid team,” said Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO, Lucid Group. “So I’m truly excited to hand the keys to our first dear customers and accompany them on an inaugural drive through the iconic California countryside.”

Lucid plans to deliver 520 customer-configured Lucid Air Dream Editions, followed by deliveries of Lucid Air Grand Touring versions. Touring and Pure models are anticipated for delivery to customers during 2022.

Update 11/1/2021: Today Rawlinson sent out an email stating:

I’ve often said publicly that I don’t feel we have truly achieved anything as a company until our cars are in the hands of customers. Therefore, I’m delighted to announce that this past Saturday, October 30th, we commenced deliveries of Lucid Air Dream Edition to our very first customers.

We undertook this in a special Lucid way by personally welcoming each new owner, hosting them at our headquarters in Silicon Valley and taking them on an incredible first drive; our inaugural Lucid Rally through ancient redwood forests, out to the iconic California coastline.

Our journey to this milestone has been a long one. Over eight years ago, I joined a tiny company called Atieva (now Lucid). We possessed some promising battery technology, high hopes and a clear ambition to create a new electric car. Not just any car, but the best electric vehicle in the world; to advance the state of the art, the state of what’s possible.

This would clearly require us to develop the best EV technology in the world, and we’d have to do that all in-house, because clearly none of this would be available off the shelf. The Lucid Air Dream Editions we delivered to customers are the culmination of that effort and insomuch truly represent a fulfilment of that dream.

The technological advancements that Lucid Air brings, including its 900v electrical architecture, race-bred battery system, Wunderbox two-way charging, unsurpassed drive-train power density and efficiency, combine to enable the first 500 miles range EV. This very same technology, and derivatives of it, will directly transfer towards the more affordable, high efficiency EVs of the future, making Lucid Air a doorway into that future.

Lucid Air has truly been a labor of love for myself, and indeed, the entire Lucid team.

While this moment is significant, it is also but another step on our path. It heralds the opening of our next chapter – one where we will scale an exceptional Lucid experience for a growing number of customers worldwide. I want to thank you for supporting Lucid and helping to further our vision of a more sustainable future for us all.
Best regards,

All Dream Edition models are equipped with a special 118kWh version of Lucid’s long-range battery pack, featuring 22 modules totaling 6,600 cylindrical cells with a chemistry engineered to optimize performance and range. The Dream Edition Range achieves an estimated 520 miles on a single charge according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), making it the longest range for any electric car rated by the organization. It delivers 4.4 miles per kWh, a mark surpassed only by another version of Lucid Air, the Grand Touring, which features a 112kWh battery pack and achieves 4.6 miles per kWh. The Dream Edition Performance model offers 1,111 horsepower, achieving a 0-60 mph time of just 2.42 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 9.67 seconds (with the 21″ wheels and tire package) – while still capable of an EPA-estimated 471 miles of range (with the 19″ wheel and tire package).
