General Motors Co. Chairman and CEO Mary Barra revealed that the company will offer 30 all-electric models globally by mid-decade. Forty percent of the company’s U.S. entries will be battery electric vehicles by the end of 2025. Barra also announced an increase in GM’s financial commitment to EVs and AVs today to $27 billion through 2025 – up from the $20 billion planned before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.-

EyeSight DMS

Eyesight Technologies, an AI computer vision in-cabin automotive solutions provider, and Ambarella , an AI vision system-on-chip (SoC) supplier today announced the expansion of their existing partnership for OEMs and Tier 1s to include the fleet aftermarket industry. Eyesight Technologies will integrate Ambarella’s CV25 CVflow® processor in the company’s upcoming aftermarket solution for fleets and Telematic Service Providers (TSPs).

With over 140 million registered commercial vehicles in the U.S. alone, and hundreds of millions more commercial vehicles worldwide, the ability to retrofit existing commercial vehicles with cutting-edge driver monitoring capabilities is vital toward making our roads safer today.

Eyesight Technologies’ Driver Monitoring Solution (DMS) utilizes computer vision and AI to monitor the driver’s head pose, blink rate, gaze vector, eye openness, and other key factors, to determine the driver’s state. The aftermarket solution, which is targeted at fleets and TSPs, aims to help reduce accidents involving commercial vehicles where distraction and fatigue account as two of the largest causes of accidents.

Ambarella CV25

Ambarella’s CV25 processor was selected due to its advanced artificial intelligence CVflow architecture, which complements Eyesight Technologies’ Driver Sense, driver monitoring software. The CV25 processor is ideal for processing Eyesight Technologies’ neural networks and advanced computer vision algorithms and is optimal for DMS needs while leaving room for additional future applications and features. The system will be delivered by Eyesight Technologies’ in a device targeting the commercial vehicle industry.

Turo Working with Kiva Loans

Turo, the world’s largest car sharing marketplace, is partnering with Kiva, a nonprofit that expands financial access to underserved communities, to launch the Turo Seed Initiative. The initiative is designed to address wealth inequality in the United States, especially in traditionally underserved Black communities by providing access to an interest-free loan to build a small car sharing business on the Turo marketplace. Turo has committed up to $1 million in funding for this initiative to create more access to wealth-building opportunities, so anyone, regardless of color, gender, or creed, can start building a small business and pave their own path towards financial wellness.

Exro 100 V Coil

Panasonic Partners with Phiar AI

Panasonic Automotive Systems Company of America, Division of Panasonic Corporation of North America, (Panasonic Automotive) a tier one global automotive supplier, announces a collaboration with Phiar, developers of edge spatial-AI technology and augmented reality navigation platform, to expand driver safety and navigation support in its automotive solutions.

Phiar’s deep learning AI technology runs on automotive infotainment systems, detects and analyzes the driver’s surroundings in real-time, and combines it with 3D localization of the vehicle to provide augmented guidance and safety information. Phiar utilizes map and navigation data from the leading map platforms to offer live visual navigation with traffic and other contextual data.
