Carbon Neutral Spending with Planet Protection

Aspiration, America’s socially-conscious, sustainable financial firm, today announced the launch of Planet Protection™, a one of a kind premium service that helps ensure Aspiration customers’ driving won’t contribute to the climate crisis by automatically making every mile they drive carbon neutral.

When customers turn on the Planet Protection feature of their Aspiration Spend & Save Account, Aspiration will commit to providing carbon offsets for every gallon of gasoline that customers purchase at the pump with their Aspiration card. According to the Environmental Protection Agency and the Union of Concerned Scientists, transportation is the single biggest contributor to climate change with our personal vehicles such as cars and trucks accounting for most of the negative impact — a total of one-fifth of U.S. emissions.

No matter how many miles they need to drive, whether they carpool or drive alone, are behind the wheel of a small hybrid or a family-friendly SUV, Aspiration customers with Planet Protection turned on will have the peace of mind knowing that their driving is carbon neutral instead of potentially harming the climate.

“With Planet Protection, Aspiration customers’ driving won’t be driving the destruction of the Earth,” said Andrei Cherny, Aspiration CEO and Co-Founder. “Other cards allow you to protect your purchases. Aspiration allows you to help protect the planet. It’s what makes Aspiration special.”

This is another important innovation from Aspiration that solidifies its status as Americans’ socially-conscious, sustainable financial home. By moving their money to Aspiration’s fossil fuel free deposits and investments, Americans have already brought about substantial CO2 reductions, estimated equivalent to over 1/2 billion fewer miles being driven in 2018 alone. By checking their AIM (Aspiration Impact Measurement) Scores, Aspiration customers can see their own personal sustainability score and decide where to make daily purchases based on the People and Planet Scores of those businesses. And Aspiration commits to donating 10% of profits.
