Best of New York Auto Show @NYAutoShow

The New York International Auto Show will be the home of premiers of many new autos. Here’s a run down at what to expect this year. Here’s a list in almost alphabetical order.

 

Acura

Harnessing the unique capabilities of its bespoke Performance Manufacturing Center (PMC) in Marysville, Ohio, Acura will introduce handcrafted limited-edition vehicles, starting with the 2020 TLX PMC Edition. With production starting this summer, the 2020 TLX PMC Edition will be built by the same master technicians that hand assemble the Acura NSX supercar. Deliveries of the exclusive 2020 TLX PMC Edition will begin this summer with pricing around $50,000. An MDX PMC Edition will follow. Both the production TLX PMC Edition and MDX PMC Edition Prototype make their world debut at the 2019 New York International Auto Show and will be on display throughout public show days, April 19-28, at the Jacob Javits Center.

Audi R8

The iconic Audi R8 will make its appearance at the 2019 New York International Auto show in a big way, with the U.S. debut of both the updated 2020 Audi R8, and the limited edition R8 V10 Decennium, built in celebration of the model’s ten years of powerful V10 engine performance.

Each generation of the R8 brings to the road know-how acquired on the racetrack and from the legacy of Audi endurance racing. This year is no different.

Design
Updates to the 2020 R8 model line deliver a refreshed exterior design.  The updated front bumper includes a new honeycomb grille with R8 badge, front spoiler lip, and lateral air intakes. The updated rear bumper continues with honeycomb air outlets, oval exhaust pipes, and a new rear diffuser. The headlights have also been darkened, and the rocker panel has been redesigned and includes an inlay. On the V10 model, the lower trim is finished in high-gloss black, and on the V10 performance model, the lower trim is finished in titanium color, with an option to select carbon fiber.

Tech updates for 2019 include standard Audi phone box, which not only charges compatible smartphones wirelessly, but can also connect compatible phones with the vehicle’s antenna to help optimize signal. Available Audi smartphone interface provides Apple CarPlay™ and Google™ Android Auto integration, making smartphone. The Bang & Olufsen sound system provides an excellent sound experience on board with an output of 680 watts.

Audi Q8

Offering the functional practicality of an SUV with the dynamic design of an Audi coupe, the all-new Audi Q8 is powered by the new 335-horsepower 3.0-liter TFSI® V6 engine paired with an eight-speed tiptronic® transmission that helps propel the Q8 from 0 to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds.

The refreshed 2019 TT RS will join the Audi Sport model line this spring.

ASPCA Subway Doodle

The ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) unveiled its brand-new mobile adoption vehicle at an adoption event at Tompkins Square Park. The new vehicle features original artwork from Subway Doodle, the Brooklyn-based artist best known for his imaginative illustrations of city life. The design celebrates the joy of pet adoption and the unique bonds New Yorkers share with shelter animals. The new vehicle is state-of-the-art and includes many custom features such as a sound system to play soothing music for the animals, wall-mounted perches in the cat areas that offer more space to explore, and increased kennel space to help find safe and loving homes for more animals in need.

Cadillac XT6

The first-ever Cadillac XT6 SUV delivers a compelling blend of refinement, spaciousness, driver assistance and safety technologies, along with generous cargo capacity.  Powered by a 3.6-liter DOHC V-6 engine, the new model also offers a range of available convenience features including, adaptive cruise control, wireless charging, night vision and high-definition surround vision.

Chevrolet Blazer

The all-new five-passenger midsize Chevrolet Blazer SUV features bold styling and driver-centric interior and a broad range that includes sporty RS and up-level Premier models.  The new model comes with a standard 2.5L I-4 or available 3.6-liter V-6 engines, each backed by a nine-speed automatic transmission. Designed for the connectivity age, the new model includes available convenience features such as Hitch View that shows a top-down view inside the cabin, making it easier to hitch a trailer without a second person to assist.

Ford Explorer

With the unveiling of the all-new Explorer, Ford has added two all-new models – Explorer ST and Explorer Hybrid.  The all-new Explorer ST is the most fun-to-drive and powerful Explorer ever with a specially tuned 3.0-liter EcoBoost® engine projected to make 400 horsepower and reach a targeted top track speed of 143 mph.  While the Explorer Hybrid is designed to offer performance and capability in a fuel-efficient package; the 3.3-liter hybrid powertrain is projected to return an estimated range of more than 500 miles between gas station fill-ups.

GMC Acadia

Smarter technologies and a fresh new look for the Acadia include a new available turbo engine and the latest GMC infotainment system. The lineup includes SLE, SLT, an all-new AT4 trim and GMC’s flagship Denali, with available seating arrangements for five, six or seven passengers, depending on the model. The new 2.0-liter turbocharged engine – available on SLT and Denali models — uses innovative tripower valvetrain and dual-scroll turbocharging technologies to help optimize performance and efficiency. Both the proven 2.5-liter I-4 and the 3.6L V-6 engines remain standard or optional equipment for the Acadia dependent on the trim level selected.

Honda

The New York International Auto Show draws more than 1 million consumers each year to see the hundreds of bright, shiny vehicles. For the first time at an auto show, Honda will display a refreshed 2019 HR-V that recently was safety crash tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The emotional display of the HR-V showcases what a vehicle endures in a crash (and what it looks like after), including the structural strength and airbag deployment, highlighting the progression of safety technology. The HR-V exhibits safety rating leadership at an affordable price, starting at $20,520.

The affordable 2019 HR-V subcompact crossover, equipped with Honda’s proprietary Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure, has earned the highest available rating of “Good” in all six IIHS crashworthiness tests, and has been named an IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK when equipped with Honda Sensing® technology and certain headlights. ACE™ body structure absorbs the violent forces of a crash, reducing the likelihood of injury to vehicle occupants. All 2019 HR-V models achieve “Good” ratings for driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side impact, roof strength, and head restraints and seats, along with a “Superior” rating for front crash prevention when equipped with available Honda Sensing.

Honda has seven 2019 model-year vehicles — Insight, Accord,[1] HR-V,2 CR-V,2 Pilot,2 Odyssey 2 and Ridgeline [2] — that earned a TOP SAFETY PICK or TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating from IIHS. Further, all 2019 model-year Honda vehicles that have been fully tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA) have earned a top 5-star Overall Vehicle Score, 11 models in total.

Honda Pilot

The all-new Honda Pilot blends a full range of safety features and standard Honda Sensing® with impressive interior volume and passenger space.  The new model is powered by a 280-horsepower 3.5-liter i-VTEC® V6 and has a 5,000-pound towing capacity.  Designed for adventure-seekers, the all-new Pilot comes with Honda’s available i-VTM4™ torque-vectoring all-wheel drive system.

Hyundai

Hyundai Palisade

Hyundai’s flagship premium three-row Palisade SUV rides on an all-new SUV chassis with exceptional second- and third-row roominess coupled with generous cargo area and reconfiguration flexibility. Designed with new levels of all-road, all-weather capability, the new Hyundai SUV is powered by a 291-hp 3.8-liter V6, dual CVVT, direct-injected engine, for excellent power and efficiency.

INFINITI

As INFINITI continues to celebrate its 30th anniversary during the New York International Auto Show, the automaker honors its heritage as well as its current lineup as it signals the possibilities for design and technology for future vehicles.

INFINITI will debut the new 2019 Q50 Signature Edition – which offers the sedan’s most popular features combined with unique exterior finishes – as well as the INFINITI Q Inspiration concept.

‘The sedan segment is still very much an important part of the industry, and the INFINITI Q Inspiration concept was created to breathe new life into this market,” said Mike Colleran, global division vice president, Marketing and Sales Operations. ‘By exploring the bold and unconventional, the Q Inspiration concept showcases a new design language for the era of electrification and signals what the future holds for the INFINITI brand.”

In addition to the 2019 Q50 Signature Edition and the Q Inspiration concept, INFINITI will also display its full model lineup, including the latest SUVs, the INFINITI QX50 and QX80.

2019 INFINITI Q50 Signature Edition
Taking its popular sports sedan to an even higher level of sophistication, INFINITI brings together a range of highly desired features in the new 2019 Q50 Signature Edition, combining the elegant design with the robust performance of the INFINITI Q50.

‘Since INFINITI Motor Company launched 30 years ago, our primary goal was to deliver a truly luxury experience with every moment spent behind the wheel,” said Tim Franklin, director, INFINITI Product Planning. ‘The 2019 Q50 Signature Edition highlights this focus as we combine the award-winning VR-series engine with unique design details and our most popular features into one package.”

The Q50 Signature Edition strikes an ideal balance of performance and luxury, starting with the company’s award-winning 300-horsepower VR-series 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine under the hood. Unique exterior treatments include sport design front and rear fascias, special Signature Edition trunk badging, and exclusive 19-inch bright-finish Signature Edition alloy wheels. Interior appointments for the 2019 Q50 Signature Edition include Kacchu aluminum trim and leather-appointed sport seats.

Standard on this model are a suite of features typically offered through the ProASSIST Package, including Blind Spot Warning, Around View® Mirror with Moving Object Detection, front and rear sonar system, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Backup Collision Intervention.

Also included as standard on the 2019 Q50 Signature Edition are features typically offered as part of the Essential Package, including heated front seats and steering wheel, remote engine start, INFINITI InTouch™ Navigation with Lane Guidance and 3D building graphics; INFINITI InTouch™ Services with voice recognition for navigation functions, including one-shot voice destination entry and SiriusXM® Traffic™ with four-year complimentary trial access to real-time traffic information.

The 2019 Q50 Signature Edition will be available in five colors: Black Obsidian, Graphite Shadow, Liquid Platinum, Pure White and Iridium Blue. Production of the 2019 INFINITI Q50 Signature Edition vehicles will be limited, and this model will be available at INFINITI retailers in May 2019.

A Glimpse of the Future: Q Inspiration Concept
Also on display at the INFINITI stand will be the Q Inspiration concept, which previews a new generation of INFINITI sedans that will offer a whole new level of electrified driving performance as an evolution of INFINITI’s current powertrains.

The exterior of the INFINITI Q Inspiration concept features dynamic and confident proportions, and it is the first manifestation of INFINITI’s new form language for an era of advanced powertrains and autonomous technologies. The interior follows this minimalist approach with a concise and clean interior design wrapping the driver and passengers in a serene, spacious and comfortable environment.

The INFINITI Q Inspiration concept – indicating the future of INFINITI sedans – was the first of several concepts that give a glimpse into the future design of INFINITI’s entire family of vehicles. The Qs Inspiration, debuted at 2019 Auto Shanghai, previews the new design language for future INFINITI sports sedans. QX Inspiration concept, introduced earlier this year at the 2019 North American International Auto Show, hints at the electrified future of INFINITI SUVs.

INFINITI Here and Now: Current Model Lineup
In addition to the Q50 Signature Edition and the Q Inspiration concept, INFINITI will also showcase its current offering of world’s first driving technologies and daring design with its full model lineup.

Representing INFINITI’s sedans and coupe are the Q50 Signature Edition and Q50 RED SPORT 400, the Q60 RED SPORT 400 and the Q70L. The Q50 RED SPORT 400 and Q60 RED SPORT 400 are the pinnacles of performance for INFINITI’s sports sedan and coupe offerings, delivering 400 horsepower at 6,400 rpm – the most standard horsepower for any non-specialty model – and torque is rated at 350 lb-ft at 1,600-5,200 rpm. The 2019 INFINITI Q70 and Q70L (long wheelbase) performance luxury sedans bring together unparalleled levels of style, performance, luxury, craftsmanship and technology.

From INFINITI’s SUV line are the QX50, QX60 and QX80. The 2019 QX50, INFINITI’s most advanced vehicle to date and embodies everything INFINITI stands for: beautiful design, advanced technology and empowering performance features. The luxury mid-size crossover features the world’s first production-ready variable compression engine, the VC-Turbo, which provides the power and strength of a sprinter with the efficiency and endurance of a marathon runner.

The popular and highly awarded INFINITI QX60 offers the best of both luxury and practicality with a combination of family-oriented features as well as a welcoming, carefully crafted design inside and out. Finally, the flagship of INFINITI’s SUV lineup, the QX80 boasts a refined, spacious cabin that features high-quality materials, a handcrafted finish and advanced drive-assist technologies.

Kia Soul

Kia’s all-new Soul is funkier than ever and is available with either a 147-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine or for those who desire more zip, a 1.6-liter turbocharged option is also available. Inside, the new model is available with a 10.25-inch HD color touchscreen with split screen function and rear-view monitor and parking guidance.

Kia Telluride

The big, bold and boxy new Kia Telluride midsize SUV provides comfortable seating for up to eight occupants and is powered by a powerful 291-hp 3.8-liter V6 mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.  The new model is loaded with technology to enhance comfort, convenience, utility and the driver and passenger experience including four-wheel independent suspension and a choice of four drive modes, Smart, Eco, Sport and Comfort. In addition, drivers can select from two different settings, Snow and AWD Lock, for specific driving conditions.

Subaru of America, Inc. announced today that it will reveal the all-new 2020 Outback at the New York International Auto Show on April 17th at 11:15 a.m. ET.

Maserati will showcase its entire vehicle line-up with a special focus on the Levante, a New York favorite. The luxury all-wheel drive SUV is powered by a twin-turbo V6 or V8 engine, designed and built by Ferrari. There will be two North American premieres: the ONE OF ONE customization program, and a new leather interior in PELLETESSUTA™, made by Ermenegildo Zegna exclusively for use in Maserati vehicles.

ONE-OF-ONE: NEW CUSTOMIZATION PROGRAM
Maserati features Italian artisanal craftsmanship with the finest finishes through its ONE OF ONE customization program.  Customers select from thousands of interior and exterior options to meet their personal needs and tastes.  Whether it’s a favorite color palette, material or design inspiration, the Maserati design team works closely with each client to create a vehicle, as unique as each person who drives it. This program exemplifies Maserati’s ability to construct customized one-of-a-kind automobiles.  On April 17, there will be a world premiere at the New York Auto Show as a celebrity receives the keys to their never seen before personalized ONE OF ONE Levante GTS.  This program will roll out to North American dealers in the near future to satisfy the discerning tastes of clients.

2019 LEVANTE SUV WITH NEW PELLETESSUTA™ INTERIOR BY ERMENEGILDO ZEGNA
Following the world premiere in Geneva, the Zegna Levante S Q4 GranSport showcases a newly designed elegant PELLETESSUTA™ interior with a bronze exterior.  The supple woven Nappa leather interior was created through the pioneering research of Ermenegildo Zegna and is showcased exclusively in this Maserati Levante.  The soft, luxurious, lightweight material is not only durable but brings comfort and beauty to the Levante interior.  Through a longstanding partnership between Zegna and Maserati, two historical Italian companies, Maserati is the only automotive company to bring this elevated PELLETESSUTA™ interior to the market. This unique interior trim will begin arriving in North American showrooms in the Spring of 2020 on multiple models.

THE 2019 MASERATI LINE-UP: GRANTURISMO, Quattroporte, LEVANTE and Ghibli
Visitors to the New York International Auto Show will also see the entire 2019 Maserati portfolio. Maserati’s product range includes the powerful and refined Levante SUV, the Ghibli sport sedan, the flagship Quattroporte sedan, and the legendary GranTurismo Convertible that perfectly represents Maserati’s DNA.

Hyundai

Hyundai ts all-new 2020 CUV is the Hyundai Venue. The new entry CUV name references a ‘place’ where people want to be seen, or in this case, inside the vehicle. The Venue symbolizes a trendy, unique style, perfect for Hyundai’s newest and smallest CUV.

Hyundai’s naming theme for CUVs has typically been a city or place. Venue embodies the characteristics of ‘the place to be’, en route to the final destination, wherever that may be.

Global media will see the Venue for the first time at the New York International Auto Show on April 17. The global reveal will incorporate an innovative Augmented Reality (AR) element.

Jaguar XE

The newly refreshed Jaguar XE includes updated exterior and interior changes that include Jaguar’s optional InControl® Touch™ Pro Duo infotainment system and 12.3-inch interactive driver display. The system includes smart settings that use artificial intelligence to learn the preferences of individual drivers and adjusts seat, mirror, audio and climate settings automatically.

 

Jeep Gladiator

The all-new Jeep Gladiator combines rugged utility, open-air freedom, clever functionality, best-in-class towing, a 4×4 payload and a host of innovative safety and advanced technology features. Power comes from a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine mated to an eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. A 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 will be available in 2020.

Lincoln Aviator

The all-new three-row Lincoln Aviator SUV comes with a range of advanced technologies that let the luxury SUV kneel to greet you, scan the road ahead for uneven pavement, and allow you to drive away using your smartphone instead of a key. Aviator comes with all-wheel drive and a choice of gas or hybrid powertrains. The standard twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine or a 450-horsepower twin-turbocharged hybrid engine option.

Mazda3

When styling its all-new sedan and hatchback, Mazda created two distinct personalities for each model. The sedan was designed to evoke an air of elegance, while the hatchback is meant to be sportier and more emotional. Standard i-ACTIVSENSE safety features in the Mazda3 hatchback include an all-new, first for the brand Driver Attention Alert that displays an alert and sound when it detects driver fatigue or decreased attentiveness.

Mercedes-Benz GLE

The all-new Mercedes-Benz GLE has a new range of engines and a new 4MATIC system that ensures greater agility on the road and superior performance off the beaten track.  Inside there is more space as well as technology innovations including a world first 48-volt active suspension system called E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL, that allows spring and damping forces to be individually controlled at each wheel.

 

Porsche 911

Faster, more emotional, and more connected, the eighth generation Porsche 911 couples exterior styling changes with a completely new interior layout. Under the hood is the next generation of flat-six turbocharged engines delivering 443 horsepower in the S models. New assistance systems are also available such as the standard Porsche Wet Mode for increased driver awareness on wet roads, and the optional Night Vision Assist with a thermal imaging camera.

Nissan

Nissan will show the Nissan Garage.

Range Rover Evoque

The 2020 Range Rover Evoque compact luxury SUV features an all new design language, advanced driver assistance technologies, a new hybrid-electric powertrain option and groundbreaking off-road technologies.  The new model will be available with a 48-volt MHEV powertrain that harvests energy normally lost during deceleration and stores it in the underfloor battery. The new Evoque is also the first vehicle to feature ‘ClearSight Ground View’ technology, which is designed to allow the driver to virtually see through the hood and under the front end of the vehicle by projecting a 180-degree view of the ground onto the vehicle’s upper touchscreen.

Rolls-Royce Cullinan

The new Rolls-Royce Cullinan is an all-terrain high-bodied SUV that makes the idea of authentic, luxury off-road travel a reality.  Cullinan is powered by a 6.75-liter twin-turbo V12 Rolls-Royce engine that delivers 563-horsepower and 627lb ft of torque to the all-new all-wheel drive, all-wheel steer system needed to overcome any challenge on or off road.

Subaru Legacy

The all-new seventh-generation Legacy sedan comes with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology as standard as well as available tablet-style high-definition 11.6-inch SUBARU STARLINK™ multimedia screen. XT models mark the return of a turbocharged engine to the Legacy lineup, thanks to a 260-horsepower 2.4-liter direct-injection SUBARU BOXER® engine, while other models sport an enhanced 182-horsepower 2.5-liter direct-injection BOXER engine.

Toyota Corolla Hybrid

This new Toyota is the first-ever Corolla Hybrid in the United States and features a new generation Hybrid Synergy Drive system that combines a 1.8-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with two motor/generators to achieve 50+mpg combined fuel economy. In addition to increased agility and comfort, the new Corolla comes with the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 suite of active safety systems as standard.

Toyota Supra

With the first new Supra in the U.S. in 21 Years, Toyota’s new model is a fully forward-looking sports car, brimming with a cutting-edge powertrain, chassis and multimedia technology. The new rear-wheel drive model is powered by a 335-horsepower 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine and is teamed with a quick-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. Toyota projects 0-60 mph acceleration in 4.1 seconds.

Volkswagen Passat

The new Passat offers bolder design, upgraded technology and enhanced access to convenience and driver-assistance features. Powered by a 174-horsepower 2.0-liter TSI® engine on most models, standard features include: 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, full LED lighting, App-Connect, Front Assist with Pedestrian Monitoring, Blind Spot Monitor, and Rear Traffic Alert.
