Nissan is offering free vehicle in-cabin microfilter replacement for vehicle owners affected by the recent wildfires in Northern California and Northern Los Angeles.
The complementary service is available through Jan. 31, 2019, extends to any Nissan vehicle with an in-cabin microfilter. Owners are encouraged to contact one of the 50 participating dealerships (list below) to verify part availability and to schedule an appointment for the free service, which includes labor for installation and inspection.
“We are heartbroken by the devastation of these wildfires and want to help those who have been affected in some way,” said Kevin Wagstaff, regional vice president, Nissan North America. “We can only hope this offer of a free in-cabin microfilter replacement provides some relief as communities begin to rebuild.”
Recent wildfires are reason for residents to have their vehicle inspected and the in-cabin microfilter replaced, if needed. This filter, separate from the engine air filter, cleans the air entering the passenger area and can help trap pollen, bacteria, dust and exhaust gases that could compromise interior air quality. Checking and replacing the in-cabin microfilter every 12,000 to 15,000 miles or once a year under normal circumstances is recommended. The in-cabin microfilter should always be replaced, not cleaned.
Nissan also will perform a free multi-point inspection on vehicles brought in for the in-cabin microfilter replacement. Owners of non-Nissan vehicles (Model Year 2000 and newer) may also contact their local participating Nissan dealer to inquire about a free in-cabin microfilter – some non-Nissan models may be excluded due to part availability. Each vehicle is eligible for one free in-cabin microfilter through Jan. 31, 2019.
In addition, Nissan also is taking steps to help customers impacted by the November California wildfires with deferred payment options and employee pricing on new vehicles.
