One of the safest places to keep things is in a car and when it is a connected car it is easy to lock and unlock with through an app. Amazon announced Amazon Key In-Car Deliver to compatible GM and Volvo vehicles. In-car delivery is available at no extra cost for Prime members and is available in 37 cities and surrounding areas across the U.S. with more cities rolling out over time. Delivery is available on tens of millions of items sold on Amazon.com and works with Same Day, Two-Day and Standard Shipping.
Amazon Key In-Car Delivery supports most 2015 model year or newer Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac, and Volvo vehicles with an active connected car service plan such as OnStar or Volvo On Call. Amazon Key In-Car Delivery is exclusively for Prime members in select cities and surrounding areas.
To get started, customers download the Amazon Key App and then link their Amazon account with their connected car service account. Once setup is complete and the delivery location has been registered, customers can shop on Amazon.com and select the “In-Car” delivery option at checkout.
On delivery day, Amazon Prime members park their connected vehicle within two blocks of the delivery address in a publicly accessible area. Subscribers receive a notification in the morning with a 4-hour delivery window, and an “Arriving Now” notification when the delivery driver is headed to the vehicle. When the delivery driver arrives—before the car is unlocked—Amazon verifies that an authorized driver is at the right location with the right package, through an encrypted authentication process. No special codes or keys are given to the driver. The driver will then place the package inside the vehicle and request to relock it. Amazons lets subscribers know when the vehicle is relocked, and subscribers get a final notification confirming the delivery is complete.
The delivery driver will first attempt to place the package in the vehicle’s trunk. If the package cannot fit due to size, space availability or vehicle model, it will be placed in the vehicle’s cabin.Try Amazon Prime 30-Day Free Trial.
If the car can not be located, the package will be delivered to the customer’s second delivery place option.

In addition to enabling in-car delivery, Amazon Key is a smart entry solution that offers customers keyless entry, remote lock and unlock, and guest access, as well as the option to have packages delivered inside the home.
Volvo also offers its digital key technology for car-sharing in selected markets, enabled via Volvo On Call. The platform allows Volvo XC40 owners to easily share their car with family and friends without having to hand over a physical key.
