Companies found in embedded chips and connected car news tips this week, include Ficosa, Panasonic, Mistubishi, DENSO, Autotalks, Jungo, GE, Bosch, Lyft, Rear View Safety, Pegasus TransTech, Spireon and Velodyne.
Ficosa + Panasonic
Ficosa, a top-tier global provider devoted to the research, development, manufacturing and marketing of high-technology vision, safety, connectivity and efficiency systems for the automotive and mobility sectors, and Panasonic have signed the first contract of a co-developed product. Both companies will produce an interior rearview mirror for a major European manufacturer (OEM), which will incorporate an electronic toll function that allows the automatic payment of motorway tolls without having to stop the vehicle. The project, which will last for seven years, is valued at 50 million euros and will be produced in the plant of Ficosa in Viladecavalls (Barcelona).
New Mobile Mapping System from Mistubishi
Mitsubishi Electric Corporation announced that the company will launch a new model of its Mitsubishi Mobile Mapping System, the MMS-G220, a highly accurate measuring system using car-mounted GPS antennas, laser scanners and cameras. The system gathers 3D positioning data of road surfaces and roadside features to an absolute accuracy of 10 centimeters, allowing the creation of comprehensive 3D maps to the level of accuracy needed to support autonomous driving. The new model will initially be offered in overseas markets from October. Offering an integrated, easily mountable, and detachable solution, thus enabling compatibility with numerous car types, the new model is expected to be deployable in a wide range of applications, such as autonomous driving systems and the precise surveying of infrastructure. The company intends to develop business overseas and also expects to release this system in Japan by the year 2017.
DENSO Picks Autotalk’s V2X
Autotalks’ next generation V2X device was selected by DENSO, a top global auto parts supplier and a V2X ECU pioneer. Autotalks’ chipset will be at the center of DENSO’s global V2X platform for car-makers mass market projects. Prototyping phase has already started towards an unprecedented high-volume SOP (Start of Production) in 2019, targeting North America market.
Autotalks’ next generation devices embed a mobility optimized modem, support dual-antenna with optimal and flexible RX/TX diversity, perform line-rate message ECDSA verification of the entire link capacity and embed an ultra-low-latency V2X HSM. In addition, Autotalks’ next generation was designed for cryptoagility and scalability, and is capable of operating at a high temperature range. All these advantages combined, coupled with a rigorous benchmark, crowned Autotalks’ next generation as optimal for DENSO’s global mass market V2X platform.
Jungo DMS
Jungo Connectivity, a divestiture of Cisco Systems, announced its new Driver Monitoring System (DMS), CoDriver, poised to be the leading, next generation, personalized DMS in the rapidly growing Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) space.
CoDriver’s innovative approach provides the car with a complete, real-time information of the condition of the driver.Using CoDriver, cars can now know whether or not the driver is alert and paying attention to the road, and can tell if the driver is ready to take control of a vehicle in a semi-autonomous scenario. In a fully-autonomous experience, the car can get valuable information about the passengers and their overall condition while in the vehicle.
The CoDriver Software Development Kit (SDK) is now available to customers and partners, providing complete APIs and SDK to enable rapid development of next generation Driver Monitoring Systems.
GE & Bosch
GE and Bosch are working together to shape the connected world through a collaboration between the software divisions of both organizations, GE Digital and Bosch Software Innovations. The organizations have signed a memorandum of understanding where GE Digital and Bosch Software Innovations will further facilitate openness and growth of the Industrial Internet of Things (IoT).
The agreement focuses on technology interoperability and platform integration through GE’s Predix operating system and the Bosch IoT Suite. GE Digital and Bosch Software Innovations intend to make complementary software services available on the other company’s cloud platforms to enhance the overall value of each cloud offering and provide solutions to a wider customer base.
Singapore Transports Marking to Lyft
Singapore Tourism Board (STB) announcd it partnered Lyft and Pandora, the go-to music source for fans and artists to drive awareness for Singapore, a destination full of inspiring ideas and cultural experiences. In an effort to push the limits on destination marketing, Singapore Tourism Board is paving a new path to engage with like-minded consumer audiences with a passion for discovery and creative thinking to explore the endless travel experiences in Singapore. Partnering with these prominent Bay Area-based companies is aimed at supporting Singapore Airlines’ launch of non-stop flights between San Francisco (SFO) and Singapore (SIN) on October 23 to jumpstart travel from the West Coast.
Backseat Reminder
Rear View Safety, the industry leader in the sales and distribution of backup camera systems, as well as a strong and dedicated road safety advocate, introduced the RVS-BLB Brilliant Backseat Reminder System earlier this year. The Brilliant Backseat is designed from the ground up to remind drivers to take children, pets, or valuables out of the backseat of the car.
Pegasus Transtech Transflo Telematics
Pegasus TransTech, unveiled Transflo Telematics, a next-generation (NextGen) fleet management and electronic logging solution.
The new Transflo offering includes data and telematics software for fleet managers, an advanced electronic logging device (ELD) that installs in the vehicle, and a mobile application from which drivers manage electronic logs and all other workday activities. The fully integrated solution includes affordable functionality that is competitive with traditional, high-end in-cab telematics systems.
Spireon Solar Trailer Tracking
Spireon released its new solar-powered trailer tracking product.The self-powered solution is compatible with a range of transportation vehicles and equipment, including dry vans and intermodal applications such as containers. Upon installation, customers tap into a renewable energy source that powers Spireon FleetLocate’s Rich Data telematics solution that was pioneered over six years ago.
Velodyne’s New German Offices
Velodyne announced that it has officially opened Velodyne Europe GmbH in the Frankfurt Rhein Main area in Rüsselsheim, Germany. The expansion of Velodyne operations will further enhance the production and engineering support model Velodyne LiDAR is implementing globally.
