The event formerly known as the Connected Car Expo that is now presented as Los Angeles Auto Show and AutoMobility LA will be showcasing the “Design & Developer Challenge,” t at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Wednesday, November 16.
Eleven automakers, entertainment and consumer brands have formed five teams to collaborate around this year’s theme, “Autonomous Vehicles: A Redefined User Experience for 2050.” Teams will explore how the intersection of technology, data, connectivity and content can revolutionize a vehicle’s interior/exterior design and deliver landmark user experiences for a new generation of passengers.
This year’s Design & Developer Challenge teams include:
- CH Auto and Creative Mobile
- Crayola and Qoros Auto
- Fandango and Jaunt VR
- Honda, Lego and Trigger
- Kiska and KTM
Designers and developers must work together to create a short film that answers the following questions:
- How will the city of Los Angeles evolve to accommodate for autonomous transportation?
- What kinds of experiences will people be able to have within autonomous vehicles?
- What are the vehicles that enable these experiences like?
- How will the vehicle and in-vehicle experience fundamentally transform people’s lives?
The five teams will present their concept and premiere their short film in front of industry and media professionals attending this year’s AutoMobility LA (Nov. 14-17), including an esteemed panel of judges. Immediately following the presentations, the judging panel will pick the winning team based on aesthetics and function, creativity of concept, adaptability and customization potential, use of current technology, and the vehicle’s place on the road within a multi-model transportation system. The experts will also take into account the business model and the feasibility of the concept to enter the market by 2050 before selecting the winner of the 2016 Design & Developer Challenge Judges’ Pick award.
