Porsche connected car PCM offers concierge services, CarPlay, Android & Apple Watch apps

2017-porsche-panameracenterstackPorsche seems to be favoring Apple over Android. CarPlay is integrated into Porsche’s new infotainment packages based on Porsche Communication Management (PCM) in the Porsche Panamera. However, drivers without smartphones can still have a full suite of concierge features in the car itself including Wi-Fi, navigation, real-time traffic, parking and support. Android smartphone owners can’t use Android Auto but have access to services through Android apps.

The company claims that Porsche Connect allows drivers to use their time in the car more efficiently and also keep an eye on their Porsche at all times which should make driving less stressful and more fun.

The PCM 12.3-inch touchscreen in the new Panamera offers multi-touch operation. The touchscreen reacts as soon as the user’s hand is near, switching from the active overview mode to operating mode. The home screen is customizable.

The Porsche Connect Portal and the Porsche Connect Store provides concierge  services. Porsche Connect Support offers call support centers in Europe, the USA and Asia.

  1. Porsche will have an upgrade with android car support soon.. or do I have to switch to Audi or even VW ? (they support it).

  2. I have a 2017 Panamera e hybrid which is a super performing car and this is an understatement , but the PCM and support for Android ara dessapointing. II also have a 2012 Panamera and 911 and expected al lot form the new PCM which looks great but has nothing really exciting. PCM conect bsically does not do anything and Car connect Registration is very complicated. User manuals are hardly existing . Tthe Apple days are over and I likely will have to buy a dash mount for my Samsung S8+. I hope that Porsche will have an upgrade with android car support soon.. or do I have to switch to Audi or even VW ? (they support it).
