Visteon Expand in Bulgaria
Visteon Corporation, one of the world’s leading suppliers of cockpit electronics and technology for the connected car, is expanding its software operations in Bulgaria.
Following significant growth in demand for its software services, Visteon is relocating its 700 employees in the Bulgaria capital of Sofia to a new 89,000-square foot state-of-the-art office space, with plans to further expand the facility to accommodate up to 150 additional employees.
Inspur Spurs Baidu Self-Driving Car
Chinese IT manufacturer Inspur announced recently that its NF5568M4 server has been selected by internet giant Baidu to provide hardware support for the deep learning platform of Baidu’s driverless car. Deep learning is one of the core areas of driverless technology.
In December 2015, Baidu’s driverless car passed the road test starting from the Baidu Tower in Zhongguancun High-tech Park in Beijing, driving onto the G7 Beijing-Xinjiang Expressway, through the Fifth Ring Road and reaching Olympic Forest Park, and back.
Aupeo Better Car Economy with Economist
Aupeo GmbH (Aupeo) announced a new content collaboration with The Economist. This content collaboration will allow global consumers to stay informed on world affairs, finance, science, technology, media and social issues by listening to The Economist’s diverse content offerings on both the OneConnectSM by Panasonic audio platform and Personal Radio by AUPEO! service.
With this cooperation, Aupeo will also build a new on-demand finance channel to be available to drivers listening in the car. Advance Bioifuel Advances
Scientific experts agree that America’s Advanced Biofuel, biodiesel, holds significant promise in the effort to reduce carbon emissions. Last year, biodiesel use in the U.S. cut greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 18 million tons, or the equivalent carbon dioxide emissions of 3.8 million cars.
A new consensus report from the Coordinating Research Council now adds to the growing evidence in support of biodiesel as a low-carbon fuel. Key conclusions from this report show that carbon emissions from biofuels are declining relative to petroleum, and confidence in these results are growing with additional study.
Faurecia Joins DMDII
Faurecia, one of the world’s largest automotive suppliers, today announced it has joined the new Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation Institute (DMDII), based in Chicago. DMDII is a public-private research and development organization of UI LABS. It is a world-class, first-of-its-kind manufacturing hub that will encourage factories across the nation to deploy digital manufacturing and design technologies for improved efficiency and cost-competitiveness.
Faurecia joins DMDII as an Industry Tier 2 member, alongside other world-leading manufacturers such as Boeing, Caterpillar, Procter & Gamble, Deere and Company, Illinois Tool Works and Microsoft.
Nissan Joint Research
This week marked the opening of the Tsinghua University (Department of Automotive Engineering) – Nissan Joint Research Center for Intelligent Mobility (the Joint Research Center), a collaboration between Nissan and Tsinghua University in Beijing to work on research and development of electric vehicle and autonomous drive technologies for the Chinese market.
Green Hills ADAS for DURA

Continental Supports Toyota ADAS
The Toyota Motor Corporation presented Continental, the international automotive supplier, with its Annual Technology & Development Award in recognition of its development contribution towards Toyota’s active safety package “Toyota Safety Sense C”. This active safety package combines innovative safety technologies Pre-Collision System (PCS), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), and Auto High Beams (AHB) to help assist the driver. By working together, the systems help address three key areas of accident protection: preventing or mitigating frontal collisions, keeping drivers within their lane, and enhancing road safety during nighttime driving.
Guillory Was Part of Cruise Automation
Jeremy Guillory announced today that Cruise Automation, Inc., its CEO Kyle Vogt, and he have settled their dispute over Mr. Guillory’s claim of an equity ownership interest in Cruise on mutually agreeable terms. As part of the settlement, the parties have agreed to dismiss their respective lawsuits in San Francisco Superior Court, and have resolved all other disputes between them. In addition, Cruise and Vogt acknowledge that Jeremy Guillory was an initial co-founder of Cruise.

The service is now available via Allstate.com, the Allstate Mobile app’s ‘My Rides’ section, and the Drivewise app. Consumers have access to a national network of service centers, including dealerships participating in the Allstate Dealer Agency program, to schedule anything from an engine overhaul, to a new set of tires, to an oil change.
