There were some connected car announcements at the IoT Evolution Expo, from Las Vegas, Nevada. Announcements came fro Spireon, WebNMS, Covisint and AT&T. There were many IoT speakers including Coach Joe Gibbs from the Washington Redskins.
Spiren NSpire
Spireon announced that it has more than 2.4 million subscribers for its suite of GPS tracking solutions, becoming the industry’s largest non-OEM vehicle telematics company. The NSpire open platform system collects and processes high volumes of data from any GPS connected vehicle or asset, and then presents the critical information through vertical-specific user interfaces on any Internet connected device.
WebNMS
WebNMS introduced its location and vehicle management capabilities at IoT Evolution Expo, making it the industry’s first open IoT platform to combine remote monitoring and energy management with location and vehicle management. Features include:
- Location Tagging
- Geo-Fencing
- Asset Routing
- On-Board Diagnostics
Convisint Settings Come with Owner
Covisint’s John Gleeson said that Covisint wants to become the platform of choice for IoT and identity-centric solutions to make sure only those with authority to access certain systems. In the case of cars the vehicle brand, the dealers, maintenance organizations and parts suppliers will only have access to what they need. He also said drivers should be able to take their favorite settings such as seat position, climate control, the sound system, and maps as well as other preferences with them when the buy a different car.
AT&T Mobile Pitch Contest Winners Announced
Developers competed in the AT&T Mobile Pitch Contest with new IoT concepts.
Bill Powers, CEO, Pix Controller, won first price with the “Remote Monitor CH4” and it is a real-time, continuous methane gas monitor, designed to identify gas leaks throughout the pipeline and energy supply chain, especially in no power, no Internet remote deployments. The system sends real-time alerts to a cloud-based analytics dashboard, helping supply companies avoid leaks (and therefore losses) and prevent this valuable and dangerous greenhouse gas from escaping into the atmosphere. It is self-installable, runs on solar power and is satellite and cellular connective. And it only costs about $2,500 per unit.
The other nine competitors were:
- TygaTrax Systems, a mobile RFID package tracking system.
- Your IoE(yiofe), a cloud-based connectivity platform.
- Trip Dots, a mileage tracking app for expense reporting.
- Zillionsource, a global shipping container monitoring solution.
- Accelerated and its cloud-based solution to prevent DDOS problems in disaster situations;
- Able Device, a smart SIM that controls software for better command and security.
- SS7Ware presented a connectivity base station.
- John OS Project is a universal translator between devices, platforms and end executions.
- and WiseWear is trying to bring some style to the wearables markets.
IoT is a Team Sport
Coach Joe Gibbs, formerly of the Washington Redskins, Super Bowl winner and now head of Joe Gibbs Racing talked about importance of remembering that all business is about the people who make it up.
