More apps are being updated or coming out soon to connect Apple Watches to car functions or services. Along with Volkswagen, Volvo, Porsche, BMW i3/i8 and other automotive apps there are Apple Watch apps from Hyundai Blue Link, AAA, Mercedes-Benz and Insurance Auto Auctions.
Hyundai Blue Link
Hyundai has updated the Blue Link app with a companion app for Apple Watch, available to download for free from the App Store starting.
Hyundai’s Blue Link platform allows features like remote start and service information to be through smartwatches and smartphones. The wearer taps an icon or uses voice commands to execute remote functions. Pushing the microphone icon on the watch activates the voice function, where the driver can execute commands such as “Start my car,” “Lock my car” or “Find my car.”

Automobile Club App
AAA announced the launch of an Apple Watch Service Tracker app. The app allows members to easily track the location of their assigned service vehicle in real time. Using GPS, Service Tracker allows members to have the convenience to know exactly when their service vehicle will arrive. Soon, a quick glance at your Apple Watch will do the same thing, becoming the first roadside assistance app configured for Apple Watch.
After making a service call using the AAA iPhone app, members will be able to automatically track the service vehicle to their location using the Apple Watch map display – including an ETA. Members can also choose to utilize its notifications function, which offer value-added benefits, such as special AAA Rewards offers or even a reminder to plug in your vehicle on a cold night.
Auto Auction App
Insurance Auto Auctions, a salvage auto auction company, t announced the launch of the IAA Buyer Watch App, for the Apple Watch that enables buyers to view the status of their vehicles in the bidding process through notifications on their wrists. The IAA Buyer Watch App gives buyers a quick graphical view of the status of their vehicles during the Watch and Pre-bid portions of the bidding process without having to use their mobile phones.
