HARMAN infotainment, audio and software services company has completed acquisition the car audio business of Bang & Olufsen Automotive.
Bang & Olufsen entered the car market in 2005 with the Audi A8. Bang & Olufsen uses Advanced Digital Signal Processing to compensate for the fact that in cars neither the speakers or the listeners are placed in optimum positions.
The Bang & Olufsen and B&O PLAY brands are expected to complement the existing premium branded offerings and strengthen HARMAN’s position as a leader in this segment.
Bang & Olufsen branded audio products are available in a wide range of Audi, Aston Martin, BMW and Mercedes-Benz car models.
HARMAN stated that it will bring its global marketing, scale and technologies to the Bang & Olufsen and B&O PLAY car audio brands to strengthen and grow the business.
HARMAN brands are in more than 25 million cars. Bang & Olufsen and the B&O PLAY brands Bowers & Wilkins, Harman Kardon, Infinity, JBL, Lexicon Mark Levinson and Revel HARMAN-owend brands.
