Hackamotive app winners: Zipflip, dash, BacklotCars, Fispeed & CARmera

zipflipEdmunds.com announced the winners of its Hackomotive ’15 for car shopping apps. Teams gave presentations and received feedback on their apps.

The Zipflip app that offers identity verification and a payments for private car buyers and sellers won first place and a the $20,000 grand prize. Zipflip claims, they verify the identity of every buyer and all communication is kept private and secure. Every car comes with a one month or 1,000 mile warranty.

Edmunds.com gave a $10,000 second-place prize to  Dash a free app that works with inexpensive OBDII port devices. Dash was also nominated for the Tech CARS Awards.

BacklotCars, a networking marketplace for dealers that eliminates wholesale auctions received the $5,000 third-place prize.

Edmunds.com gave special $2,000 cash prizes in additional categories.

Zipflip and Wyper a shopping app that lets shoppers swipe cars that they do or do not like on their mobile devices tied for the consumer’s choice award.

Fispeed, a platform that speeds up the transaction processes at the dealership with electronic documents received the dealers choice award.

CARmera identifies vehicles and brings up information on them from smartphone photos was giving the the future shoppers choice judged by 8th graders.

Winners were judged by panel of tech, marketing and automotive business leaders.

18 teams were evaluated by judges for their products’ demand, car shopping ease and the quality of their presentations.

Throughout the course of the event, teams worked on their apps with feedback from tech experts, design gurus, and everyday car shoppers.
