RealVNC, maker of VNC remote access technology and MirrorLink supplier is showing telematics infrastructure for cars at Mobile World Congress.
RealVNC will be demonstrating its telematics infrastructure that allows drivers to connect to cloud based services such as traffic information, route planning and roadside attractions. It also allows remote access to a vehicle’s dashboard display to provide diagnostics and instant assistance to drivers.
MirrorLink is a technology for offering connectivity between mobile devices and in-vehicle infotainment systems. MirrorLink will be deployed on the 2016 Chevy Volt , Volkswagen and some Pioneer NEX systems. MirrorLink is compatible with the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge.
RealVNC will show MirrorLink that can show multiple simultaneous videos, to the front screen, while streaming different content to several rear entertainment screens. For example, a navigation app can be run on the front screen of the car, while films or games are streamed to the rear screens, all using the same mobile device.
MirrorLink also allows multiple mobile devices to be connected simultaneously and used on different in-car screens.
RealVNC will also be shown at the Tizen stand, showcasing VNC Automotive with MirrorLink 1.1 working over USB on the Tizen platform.
RealVNC is a core member of the Car Connectivity Consortium supporting the MirrorLink specification, which uses VNC.
Founded by the original inventors of VNC, RealVNC is the only organization able to offer a commercial license to embed VNC in third-party products and offerings.
