OnStar RemoteLink app updated with cleaner look & OnStar account data

OnStar App ShotsOne of the most popular and highly rated automaker remote start and service apps, OnStar RemoteLink has been updated for iOS(Apple) or Android and can be downloaded via Google Play or the App Store. BlackBerry and Windows Phone versions will be available later.

User feedback contributed to the new interface that has been streamlined and designed to be easier to use. It’s a good time to use the app because winter storms are creating record requests for remote starts and tire pressure checks.

The updated app offers more information about OnStar accounts, that previously were only available online or on the phone.

OnStar 4G LTE, RemoteLink with Wi-Fi hotspot paid data plan users on Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac can see how much data they used and how much is left on their plan as well as manage their Wi-Fi hotspot settings and password. OnStar’s 4G LTE won the Tech CARS Award while OnStar Remote was nominated.

In the fall, GM added the ability to locate vehicles from the OnStar RemoteLink App. The new interface is changed from a Blue background color to white.

There many features in the OnStar RemoteLink app. All new GMC/Chevy vehicles come with five years of free remote start. In cold or extreme weather the remote start is a very popular feature.  The RemoteLink allows the driver to honk the horn/flash the lights, lock/unlock the doors and get diagnostic information. You can send a destination from the app to the navigation system.

The OnStar Basic Plan is available for 5 years from the date of delivery of an eligible, new 2015 Model Year vehicles and is transferable; includes OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics, Dealer Maintenance Notification, and access to RemoteLink Key Fob Services. The OnStar Basic Plan does not include any Emergency Services, Automatic Crash Response, Stolen Vehicle Assistance, live Advisor service, or Hands-Free Calling from the onboard OnStar device.

Family Link allows parents and family members to check the OnStar website to veiew where the car is on the map or receive email/texts alerts with your car’s location at certain times.

Used vehicle owners can get 3 months free of Onstar service to try it out.

The remote functions are free with GM/Chevy cars for five years.

Some people who adored the previous app are complaining that they don’t like this version. If you are happy with the present version, you can wait before you update.
