Jaguar / Land Rover lands OTA update through open source software

At Telematics West Coast, Magnus Feuer, a systems architect with Jaguar/Land Rover, demonstrated an over-the-air update on a Jaguar S convertible programmed  with open source (Tizen IVI and Automotive Grade Linux) software.

Both Ford and Jaguar/Land Rover are contributing open source code for infotainment systems only.  The demonstration illustrates a trend in the automotive business for car companies to share open source code and then put their own styling on top of the open source code.

The Jaguar S is the perfect model for a demo because you can see right inside the car with the roof down.
