INRIX announced that it has partnered with Samsung for traffic apps for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge and Gear S. INRIX is also expanding its partnership with Volkswagen to launch INRIX Park and INRIX Fuel services in new Passat models equipped with Discover Pro and Car-Net navigation in Europe.
Your Gear S watch will watch traffic for you. The Samsung Gear S with the INRIX XD Traffic app gives traffic alerts and recommended departure times in traffic for upcoming trips. Alerts give the best time to leave and expected travel time in traffic to the destination. This would be a great gift for bosses to give employees who are always late, then there can be no excuses.
INRIX real-time traffic and travel time insight powers the following new apps and services for Samsung Gear S, Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge:
- Morning! Smart Alarm Clock App – The app gets you up and going with weather, traffic conditions to work, best time to leave, travel times, appointments ,and unread emails as well as accident alerts.
- Car Mode – A driver friendly mode with voice controls and larger interface to make calls, listen to messages and play music on the road. Real-time traffic maps show the best routes, travel times and ETAs to home and work in traffic. Voice alerts are given to drivers about accidents/incidents and offers closest available off-street parking and least expensive place to refuel.
- My Places Widget – Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge owners get ‘glance and go’ insight into the best route, travel time and ETA from their current location to home and to work.
INRIX gave presentation at Telematics West Coast and supplies data or apps for Audi, BMW, Ford, Mercedes, Volkswagen and Toyota.
The basic free INRIX app we used at Telematics West Coast used a lot of data because it showed cameras on the road. We could not figure out how to get turn-by-turn written directions.
