Booster seats 4 under 4’9″ & Safe Kids events for National Child Safety Week

safetyseeatThere was a lot hoopla this summer over the news that some parents had accidentally left children in child seats in the heat although there is technology to remind parents.  For National Child Passenger Safety Week (Sept. 14-20), Safe Kids Worldwide released a study that showed nine out of 10 parents take children out of car booster seats before they are tall  enough.

The study was partially funded by the GM Foundation that is committed to its partnership with Safe Kids and sponsoring events this week.

Automatic to SYNC, Siri & IFITT with Ford/Lincoln

AutomaticFordAutomatic is working Ford to enhance the SYNC systems on Ford vehicles  to deliver features from the Automatic platform. The first app for iOS 8 only will be in the App store next week and support Siri.

Automatic users in SYNC-equipped cars will be able to talk to Apple’s Siri on iPhones via the steering wheel button.

Qualcomm charges cars while parked or on the E-way

qualcommbmwAfter the Ford Sync development conference at Super Mobility Week, comes Uplinq the Qualcomm developer conference in San Francisco, this week. It’s no surprise that Qualcomm wants to get its tech into cars, Formula E cars with Qualcomm Halo Wireless EV Charging at the FIA Formula E.

CTIA AT&T connected car panel says people would switch carriers for connected cars

Atmaychan CTIA Mobility Week a week after AT&T announced it latest connected car platform, AT&T ‘s Ralp de la Vega along with a panel of AT&T connected car fans, discussed how important connected cars are to the Wireless industry.

de la Vega noted that Strategy Analytics estimates that nearly 10 million 4-wheeled smartphones in the form of connected cars will be on the road in a few years. He also reported that AT&T studies show people prefer a shared family data plan that lets them to share data for many devices, and customers want to be able to add their cars to their rate plans.

GM demos self-driving micro car in Detroit: Chevy EN-V 2.0

Chevyenv2jpgAt the Intellegent Transport Systems Conference in Detroit GM is demonstrating the a self-driving version of the EN-V 2.0, slow-driving petite car designed for the most congested cities.

The Chevrolet Electric Networked-Vehicle (EN-V) 2.0 has the latest intelligent and connected automotive technologies including Lidar and V2X to for automated, low-speed electric driving LSV.

Ferrari wins iPhone race 1st CarPlay connected car

FerrrariCarPlayWhile some car makers have delayed the release of Apple CarPlay for iPhone 5/5c/5S with Hyundai on target, Ferrari delivered the first car in the world with Apple’s CarPlay on September 8.

The first Ferrari FF with CarPlay was delivered to a buyer in Italy. The delivery was a day before the announcement of the new iPhone 6 and 6+.

Delphi supplies V2V for GM and V2I for industry in 2016

delphiv2vFollowing GM’s announcement of V2V(Vehicle-to-Vehicle) devices coming to 2017 Cadillac models, Delphi announced it will be supplying the GM with technology and also stated the world’s first V2V/V2I products will be available in 2016.

Delphi reported that it is the first company with Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) communication technology to significantly advance driver alerts.
