Clarion audio/nav listens to your voice commands, Tweets, Facebooks and emails

clarion2Clarion, recently announced it is a member of the Open Automotive Alliance (OAA). Clarion also  reported that the NX604 Double DIN cloud-connected in-dash multimedia and navigation system with Intelligent VOICE powered by Google for voice control is on sale.

Intelligent VOICE lets users say things like “I’m in the mood for ice cream” and the NX604 will understand and recommend a selection of ice cream parlors.

 Clarion’s free Smart Access app to your phone gives access to several apps that work within the Smart Access ecosystem. Connect your phone to the NX604, and you’ll get fingertip control over those apps through the receiver’s screen.  the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S uses the optional Clarion cable  or it can use anHDMI cable and an Apple Lightning Digital AV Adapter combination for iPhone 5 models. Android uses HDMI.

The system features a DVD/CD player, 6.2″ WVGA touch screen, full USB connectivity, HD Radio, Bluetooth, and is satellite radio ready. It also features a 6-channel RCA audio outputs and rear zone entertainment allowing passengers to watch DVDs on the rear seat monitors while the driver can access apps and information in front.

Apps that work with the system are:

  • Facebook and Twitter.
  • Traffic by INRIX and Waze.
  • Internet radio: Pandora, iHeartRadio, and TuneIn Radio.
  • Email, calendar, news, and weather

Voice commands work with the iGo Primo navigation software. Smart Access offers proactive real-time analysis of destination routes on the go, allows for customization of entertainment options, enables safe and easy access to social media networks, monitors status of the vehicle, and provides an easy, distraction free way to use many of the popular smartphone apps while driving.

The list price for the system is $899.99.  Clarion installers are running an incentive program that awards buyers of  Clarion In-dash Navigation systems with $100 Visa gift cards while those who purchase the VX404 in-dash multimedia system will receive $50 gift cards from June 16, 2014 until August 17, 2014.
